Popular culture figures Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, and Andrew Garfield were recognised on November 18 with the prestigious Anthem Award for their significant social contributions. The 5th annual Anthem Awards celebrated these influential stars for using their platforms to promote charitable causes and social wellness.
Sabrina Carpenter received the Gold Anthem Award for her dedication to uplifting marginalised communities and advocating for mental health. Through her Sabrina Carpenter Fund, launched in collaboration with nonprofit PLUS1, she turned her concert tour into a powerful fundraiser.
Proceeds from ticket sales and brand partnerships were directed to LGBTQ+ rights, animal welfare, and mental health initiatives. This innovative approach reflected the Anthem Awards’ mission to spotlight leaders who drive meaningful change.
Selena Gomez was also honoured for her advocacy of body positivity and self-love, particularly in the face of online harassment. Her cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty, includes the Rare Impact Fund, which donates 1% of sales to global youth mental health and education projects. The fund aims to raise $100 million over the next decade, underscoring Gomez’s commitment to social causes beyond entertainment.
Rounding out the trio, Andrew Garfield, well known for his role in the Spider-Man franchise, was recognised for his efforts to promote children’s mental wellness. Partnering with Sesame Workshop, Garfield appeared in a candid video discussing grief and emotional expression with the beloved Sesame Street character Elmo.
His openness in addressing difficult topics helped normalise conversations around childhood emotions, earning him widespread acclaim and this award.
These honours reflect the evolving role of celebrities as agents of social good who use their influence to inspire positive change. The Anthem Awards continue to celebrate those who merge stardom with meaningful contributions to society’s most pressing issues.
